Dallas Cowboys' Expectant Father Dak Prescott Reveals MVP Reason: 'It's the 'Dad Strength!'

Dallas Cowboys' Expectant Father Dak Prescott Jokes About the Fuel Behind His MVP-Caliber Season: 'It's the 'Dad Strength!'

Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott gave fans even better news than the 45-10 win he helped deliver. He is going to be a father.

On Saturday, Sarah Jane Ramos, his girlfriend, posted her maternity shoot to Instagram, announcing to the world that a baby girl was on the way.

It may be a coincidence that the good news has come in the weeks since Prescott has set the league on fire, but Prescott has a simpler explanation.

“It’s the dad strength,” he said on Monday.

Since losing in Week 5 to the San Francisco 49ers in embarrassing fashion, Prescott has been the arguably best quarterback in football. His expected points added per play since that loss (0.381) is leaps and bounds ahead of the competition, with the distance between him and the second-best mark (Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence, 0.209) being about the same as the distance between Lawrence and the league average.

He’s thrown for 300+ yards in four of the five games since the bye and has posted a 15:2 touchdown:interception ratio in that span.

Prescott celebrated with an Instagram story of his own over the weekend but elaborated on Monday.

“It’s super exciting,” Prescott said. “I wanted a little girl. Everybody knows what my mom means to me so to be able to raise a little girl, I’m thankful.”

Prescott’s mother, Peggy Prescott, passed away in 2013 from colon cancer. He has spent the decade since raising funds and awareness in her honor. Prescott has spoken extensively about the impact she had on him and the impact she had not only on his career but his character.

As for Baby Prescott, Cowboys Nation can expect a new fan this March. Prescott said that he won’t reveal her name just yet, though one has been chosen.

Dad strength or not, Prescott has been the gift that keeps on giving this season, and now he has a gift of his own. He’ll take the field next on Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks.
