Cowboys Draft Fit? Jaxon Smith-Njigba Ready to 'Turn Up!' in Jerry World
The Dallas Cowboys could take many different directions once April's draft rolls around, but it certainly wouldn't hurt to add another play-maker on offense.
So why not swing for the fences in the first round and select one of the most talented receivers in the class? Former Ohio State Buckeyes pass-catcher Jaxon Smith-Njigba certainly lives up to that billing after a stellar collegiate career.
And, as a native of Dallas and a former student-athlete at Rockwall High School, it seems the potential feeling could be mutual if the draft opportunity arises. But maybe it's just the venue ...
In a recent tweet, Smith-Njigba revisited some of his old high school highlights from the state playoffs. Per usual, AT&T Stadium played host, and it was a place that Smith-Njigba dominated in.
Whether as a Cowboy or not, he seems ready to get back there.
"I'm going to turn up every time in Jerry's world," Smith-Njigba tweeted.
Smith-Njigba could be one of a handful of receivers taken in the first round in April, making it not unrealistic to think he could fall to the Cowboys at pick No. 26.
However, he only played in three games this past season to a lingering hamstring injury. Based on the repeatable nature this ailment tends to have, there's some understandable reason for concern.
But keep in mind ... this is the same guy that, in his last fully healthy season in 2021, was putting up unreal numbers while looking like one of the best players in college football. In his last notable performance, he totaled 15 catches for 347 yards and three touchdowns against the Utah Utes in the Rose Bowl. Before that record-setting day, he had already had four straight games with at least 100 receiving yards.
The Cowboys have likely already done their homework on Smith-Njigba. And if they can get him to Dallas, expect more big performances in a venue that he's shown incredible comfort in.
