'Lights Out!' Cowboys Reveal Dan Quinn Key to 'Energy Change' at Giants

The Dallas Cowboys defense produced a performance for the ages and defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence states that after the first turnover, Dan Quinn's unit effectively ended the Giants as an offensive threat.

The Dallas Cowboys brutally beat down a poor New York Giants team...in their own building to get the season off to a delicious 40-0 start.

After the Giants took the opening possession and marched down the field at will, a series of unfortunate events for New York led to Dallas blocking a field goal attempt which was then returned for a touchdown by the newly acquired Noah Igbinoghene.

And like a boxer, who lands a crisp, clean jab right on the button, it was lights out for the Giants as an offensive threat, according to defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence.

"It was huge for our team," Lawrence said. "It definitely was a change of energy. I feel like they came out strong, driving the ball well. Once we got that turnover, it feels like we shut the lights out on them."

D-Law is right. About all of it. Just like the Cowboys were pretty much right all night.

What followed after that first turnover was an utter annihilation from Quinn's unit as they would keep quarterback Daniel Jones to just 104 yards passing as he was consistently running for his life.

The defense grabbed two interceptions and sacked him seven times, not to mention the five forced fumbles the unit produced as a whole as Jones and the offense simply were rendered useless.

Oh, and the defense pitched a shutout for good measure as Giants' fans escaped the rain and the poor performance midway through the third quarter.

For Lawrence, Dan Quinn deserves enormous credit for what Dallas produced against New York.

"Shoutout to DQ," Lawrence said. "Dan's doing a great job of leading us and putting us in a position to make plays. He's our fearless leader and we respect him."

With a blowout and shutout double, the Cowboys made a statement to the rest of the NFL, which Micah Parsons echoed - they are the best defense going.

In what was deemed an NFC East heavyweight bout many thought would go the distance, Dallas turned their opponents' lights out with a swift jab to the jaw that ended the fight as soon as it began.
