FRISCO - The Los Angeles Rams are struggling with salary cap issues and in one form or another might move on from Pro Bowl cornerback Jalen Ramsey.

Who says so?

Even Ramsey himself says "maybe.''

And Rams COO Kevin Demoff said, We'll see.''

“People are always inquiring about our talent, and it’s not just Jalen," Demoff said. "We get calls on all of our good players all of the time. In the next few months, we’ll see which direction this team goes.”

Ramsey is just 28 and coming off another stellar season with four interceptions and a sub-85 opposing passer rating.

Any chance the Dallas Cowboys would take a look at signing Ramsey should he be cut? That makes sense. ... though Ramsey for some reason has insisted the Rams would never cut him ...

How about a trade? Given the salary they'd have to take on, that makes less sense.

The Cowboys' higher-ups and a few experts think that Dallas is just a player or two away from contending for a Super Bowl. With pieces like quarterback Dak Prescott and linebacker/edge rusher Micah Parsons already in place, adding another vital cog to the machine could put the Cowboys over the top.

Dallas' pass defense wasn't a problem last season, and the Cowboys' overall defense ranked No. 6 in Football Outsiders DVOA (defense-adjusted value over average).

But with Anthony Brown entering free agency (and dealing with an injury), there could be some turnover in the secondary.

The Cowboys are about $7 million over the cap right now, so Dallas would have to be creative in that regard. But with the history of the Jones' "creative" handling of the salary cap, one would think anything is possible. And who wouldn't want to see the combination of Trevon Diggs and Jalen Ramsey patrolling the Dallas secondary next season?

A lot depends on the Cowboys running back situation, and other priorities in free agency like linebacker Leighton Vander Esch, but if Los Angeles does move on from Ramsey, Dallas should at least give it a second and third look.
