'I Wish I Had One!' Cowboys Ex Marcus Spears on ‘All-In’ Super Bowl Approach
There is no denying the Dallas Cowboys’ place among the most storied franchises in sports history, with five Super Bowl wins and numerous NFL legends to their name.
However, playoff successes have been few and far between since the last time the Cowboys lifted the Lombardi Trophy in 1995. Rather than going "all-in" to hoist a Lombardi Trophy, it can be argued, the Cowboys have instead built rosters that are perennial playoff contenders.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, you have the Los Angeles Rams - who, despite any criticism of their approach in the past, went "all-in" and won a Super Bowl.
Even though they're facing a potential rebuild, NFL analyst and former Cowboy Marcus Spears supports their philosophy and wishes Dallas had done the same.
"You pay the price, and the price is a Super Bowl," Spears said on NFL Live. "I played for nine years, I wish I had one. I wish a team would have sold out for me to get one. I wouldn't mind them sucking right now."
"I played for the Cowboys, we ain't won a Super Bowl in 100 years. I would take one, just one. The Rams were able to get to the mountaintop."
It’s actually been a quarter of a century for the Cowboys, who in recent years have veered away from a credit-card approach to the cap.
"I love what the Rams did," Spears said. "They have to go through some pains before they get back on their feet, but I'll take a Super Bowl for that."
Getting to the Super Bowl is difficult enough, and to win one is an even more difficult task. But we think Cowboys Nation agrees with Spears; a sell-out approach and a victory would ease future pain … as we assume Rams fans can now testify.
