Cowboys BREAKING: CB Stephon Gilmore - 5-Time Pro Bowler - Traded To Dallas

The Dallas Cowboys are inching along in free agency. Is it time be start becoming concerned with a lack of movement?

The NFL's legal tampering period is underway, with several players agreeing to contracts with their new teams as the news came thick and fast.

Teams around the league are addressing pressing needs on their rosters. But what about the Dallas Cowboys?

They kept Donovan Wilson. And ... They are "working" on a deal for Dante Fowler Jr...

That isn't exactly the type of deal Cowboys fans want, and while Wilson and Fowler are good players and valuable members of Dan Quinn's defensive rotation last season, they aren't the needle-movers, at least in this sense: Wilson staying doesn't make Dallas better.

It makes Dallas the same.

But now this: The Colts are sending five-time Pro Bowl corner Stephon Gilmore to the Cowboys for a bag of beans - a 2023 fifth-round pick, as NFL Network first reported.

Fans want the "splash" signing of a DeAndre Hopkins, Odell Beckham Jr. and even Bobby Wagner to garner excitement. Nothing has been forthcoming. … until the Gilmore move, which fits what CowboysSI.com was told might be a “faded-star” add at corner.

Otherwise? The Cowboys' inactivity on the first days of legal tampering has some in Cowboy Nation having lost their minds on social media. Many want Jerry Jones and his front office to work feverishly to sign players.

They might be behind closed doors, but the first days has been relatively quiet regarding new developments while others, including NFC East teams, are getting deals over the line.

So, is it time to hit the panic button on Dallas' lack of movement on the market? Of course not. ... though even Micah Parsons is getting rather ticked off at how slow the Cowboys are at making moves.

But there is no gain in "panicking.''

At the same time, when the Dallas News almost compliments the Cowboys on their "methodical'' approach? That's the emotional pendulum swinging too far the other way.

"Panic'' isn't helpful.''

But neither is "stagnation.'' Gilmore helps cure that.
