Cowboys' Micah Parsons Previews NFC East Schedule: 'Life Happens Fast!'

Micah Parsons is still a relative newcomer to the NFC East game. But the 2023 NFL schedule? The Cowboys' young star "gets it.''

FRISCO - This will be Micah Parsons' third "trip around the NFC East sun,'' but the Dallas Cowboys star - arguably the best player in the division - by now understands quite well what is on the horizon.

"The NFC Least''? Parsons, growing up in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, may have heard of some of that chatter as it regarded the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles, the New York Giants and the Washington Commanders.

But no more.

The “NFC East went from the worst division in football, to having the hardest schedule this year!” Parsons tweeted on Thursday afternoon right before the 2023 NFL schedule was unveiled. “Life happens fast!”

Indeed, the Cowboys’ division has become a much more competitive collection of teams since Parsons entered the NFL as Dallas' first-round pick in 2021. The year before that, in 2020, the NFC East drew laughing-stock status as the foursome started the season with a combined 6-19-1 record. Since then, however, the Eagles have won a Super Bowl title, the Cowboys have made the playoffs in back-to-back seasons with a pair of 12-5 campaigns, the Giants made the 2022 playoffs and the Commanders made the 2021 playoffs.

Based on the concept of "strength of schedule,'' the Eagles now hold the top spot in the category of "toughest schedule'' as 10 of their opponents were playoff teams a year ago. Dallas and the Giants are tied with the third-toughest slates.
