Cowboys Fans Rank as 'Most Annoying' in Sports
FRISCO - The Dallas Cowboys generate a wide range of emotions across the sports landscape. Most either love or hate America's Team. There is no indifference to be found. The very label of "America's Team" generates hatred and pride at the same time among sports fans.
Yardbarker recently published its list of the most annoying fanbases in sports, and the Cowboys were one of seven teams named, along with the Eagles, Jets, Steelers, Broncos, Patriots and Bears.
"The Dallas Cowboys haven’t reached the NFC championship game, let alone the Super Bowl, since 1995. They have just eight double-digit win seasons since their Super Bowl XXX win. Still, they receive an immense amount of media coverage, and their fans constantly expect a title whether the roster suggests one is possible or not.
"Cowboys fans are everywhere, and they want you to know that the Cowboys are America’s team, and they’re the best fans around and they’re hyper-loyal. Also, most of them haven’t set foot in Dallas once in their lives. The Notre Dame fans of the NFL."
While the label of "annoying" is probably fair, we might argue that it could apply to pretty much any fanbase depending on your point of view and your personal team loyalties. But the Cowboys seem to be mentioned on pretty much any list you see regarding annoying fans. And that might be fair. …
Especially since there's no question the tradition and history of the Cowboys draw a lot of jealousy from teams, even from other sports.
