'An Incredible Level!' Coach McCarthy's Cowboys Pummel Jets, Move To 2-0

The Dallas Cowboys continue to roll to start the season after defeating the New York Jets in decisive fashion on Sunday.

For the first time since 2019, the Dallas Cowboys are off to a 2-0 start after defeating the New York Jets 30-10 on Sunday.

While the final score wasn't quite as lopsided as last week's game against the New York Giants, which Dallas won 40-0, the Cowboys played similarly well in this game.In fact, they were in control for pretty much the entire game.

Dallas' offense didn't have a great game last week, but it didn't really need to with how well the defense performed. This week, though, the Cowboys' offense clicked in the way the team knows it can.

"An incredible level,'' coach Mike McCarthy said of his team's accomplishments through two games. "We're off to an outstanding start.''

Dak Prescott had a clean, efficient game throwing the football, completing 30 of 37 passes for 249 yards and two touchdowns. CeeDee Lamb had a great showing as well, catching 11 passes for 143 yards. Tight ends Jake Ferguson and Luke Schoonmaker also scored their first touchdowns of the season, bringing validity to the Cowboys' tight end by committee approach.

On the ground, the Cowboys weren't terribly efficient with just 3.3 yards per carry. However, they still managed 136 rushing yards because they ran the ball so many times to kill clock. In total, Dallas held the ball for over 40 minutes of game time.

While the offense played well, the defense was even better. The Cowboys managed to hold the Jets to just 215 total yards and just 12 first downs while forcing four turnovers.

Jets quarterback Zach Wilson, filling in for the injured Aaron Rodgers, had a rough showing by completing 12 of 27 passes for 170 yards, one touchdown and three interceptions. The Jets' new running back duo of Breece Hall and Calvin Cook was virtually a non-factor, with each player rushing for less than 10 yards and Cook fumbling as well.

With the defense having another great performance, it's no surprise that star linebacker Micah Parsons did as well. The two-time all-pro finished the game with four tackles, three tackles for loss, two sacks and a fumble recovery for an all-around dominant performance. Trevon Diggs, Malik Hooker and Jayron Kearse all notched interceptions for Dallas.

The Cowboys now have 10 sacks and 10 points allowed in their first two games and have outscored their foes by a combined 70-10.

Even kicker Brandon Aubrey had a strong showing, making all five of his field goals including one from 55 yards out.

It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, though, as star offensive lineman Zack Martin left the game late with an ankle injury. Martin did not finish the game, and hopefully for the Cowboys, that was just out of caution.

Dallas stays undefeated at 2-0 on the season, while New York falls to 1-1.

Next up, the Cowboys hit the road again to face the Arizona Cardinals on Sept. 24.
