Cowboys vs. Eagles: What’s the 'Razor-Thin’ Difference?

When it comes to the NFC, many have the Philadelphia Eagles above the Dallas Cowboys. … and by some margin.

But how big is the gap, really, between Dak Prescott and Mike McCarthy and the ‘Boys and the NFC champ?

It’s not much of a gap at all former NFL general manager Mike Tannenbaum.

“It’s razor-thin,” Tannenbaum said on ESPN’s GetUp. “Let’s go back a year ago, over 17 games, the Eagles outscored the Cowboys by 10 points, and the Cowboys gave up two less points, and head-to-head, it was one game each."

So the gap between the two head-to-head was essentially non-existent last season. … at least in that sense.

The Eagles won against Cooper Rush, and the Cowboys won against Gardner Minshew. Despite Tannenbaum stating how close the two teams were last season, many still have Philadelphia far ahead of Dallas.

Our own Mike Fisher has previously stated how many starters the Eagles have lost (seven or eight!) as well as both coordinators having moved on.

So naturally, with all that has been lost for the Eagles, the gap that wasn't that big last season has in theory closed again with the Cowboys adding Brandin Cooks and Stephon Gilmore.

For Tannenbaum, with the offensive changes and an improved Dak Prescott, he has no qualms about Dallas' ability to roll into Philadelphia in the playoffs and take out the bitter rivals.

“If Dak Prescott even plays average this year under Mike McCarthy and Brian Schottenheimer, this is going down to the wire,” he predicted. “In a one-game playoff, absolutely Dallas can go into Philly, presuming Philly wins the division and beat them in the playoffs.”

Of course, Tannenbaum's comments are predicated on the Eagles doing something not done for nearly two decades. … and that's anybody winning back-to-back NFC East titles.
