Cowboys Host 'Most Dynamic' Prospect TCU WR Quentin Johnston for Visit: NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys are expected to welcome TCU wide receiver Quentin Johnston for a pre-draft visit.

The Dallas Cowboys may not be done adding to their impressive stable of wide receivers

Despite their acquisition of speedster Brandin Cooks via trade in mid-March, the Cowboys are also keeping an eye on a handful of soon-to-be rookies for yet another offensive weapon for quarterback Dak Prescott

One name which has surfaced as a possible fit in Dallas is that of TCU wideout Quentin Johnston.

Johnson has essentially announced that he will be coming to Frisco on a Top-30 visit in the days leading up to the 2023 NFL Draft beginning on April 27.

In a 2023 NFL Draft class, which is being touted as top-heavy in first-round caliber talent, Johnston may be its most dynamic athlete. Listed at 6-4 and 212 pounds, the 21-year-old possesses not only the size, but also the speed to become a game changer at the pro-level. Johnston is fresh off his best season, in which he posted career highs with 60 catches for 1,069 yards and six touchdowns.

As a favorite target of Horned Frogs quarterback Max Duggan (also scheduled to visit Dallas soon), Johnston was the catalyst for a TCU offense which factored heavily in leading TCU to its first national championship appearance since their 2010 loss to Boise State in the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl. Prior to that, program had failed to earn a major bowl berth since the 1959 Cotton Bowl.

At his best, Johnston is nearly impossible to contain when playing against zone defenses. Still, he has the ability to make an impact in man schemes, as well. While his height and strength is expected to give him a leg up on the competition in the red zone, his speed will also allow him the chance to make plays in the open field. During his Thursday Pro Day workout, he logged 40-yard times of 4.51 and 4.45 respectively.

Whether Dallas is willing to invest early-round NFL Draft capital in what many are calling a current position of strength remains to be seen. However, the allure of adding a beloved player within the region to a depth chart which includes Cooks, top wideout CeeDee Lamb, Michael Gallup and Jalen Tolbert may be a bit too enticing for coach Mike McCarthy and team owner Jerry Jones to bypass at month’s end.
