Dallas Cowboys Draft Florida State WR Keon Coleman in Latest Mock
As the NFL Scouting Combine starts to kick off with press conferences on Tuesday, the Dallas Cowboys are turning their attention to 'draft season.' After another disappointing season for the Cowboys, where they suffered the all-too-familiar early playoff exit, they have holes to fill on their roster this offseason. But is receiver one of those needs?
The latest first-round mock draft from The Athletic has the Cowboys overlooking positions of need like inside linebacker or offensive tackle to instead select Florida State receiver Keon Coleman with the No. 24 overall pick.
"The Cowboys have options here, but the offense has lacked a WR2 alongside CeeDee Lamb since the Amari Cooper trade," Chris Vannini writes. "The 6-4 Coleman is a physical specimen who had 11 touchdowns on 50 catches for FSU last season. There’s no such thing as a 50-50 ball with Coleman, especially matched up against No. 2 cornerbacks. Give Dak Prescott another elite receiving weapon."

Coleman is considered one of the top receivers available in this coming draft class and certainly seems to possess the potential to give Dak Prescott a second option alongside Lamb.
The former Michigan State Spartan, who spent just two seasons in East Lansing before transferring to Florida State last offseason, has made a name for himself in a strong class of receivers. Coleman totaled 50 receptions for 658 yards and 11 touchdowns last season for the Seminoles as he helped them to a 12-1 season.
Even though the Cowboys didn't get the type of production out of Brandin Cooks and Michael Gallup that they may have hoped last season, with the pairing combining for 1,075 yards and 10 touchdowns, while Lamb finished with 1,749 yards and 12 touchdowns, is it enough to pass on a linebacker?
After last season's neck injury to Leighton Vander Esch left the Cowboys bereft of depth at inside 'backer, it is hard to argue against it being a priority need, especially when you compare it to receiver, where the latest top-50 prospect rankings from NFL.com draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah has 12 receivers listed.
So, should the Cowboys add a receiver in the draft? It wouldn't hurt, but is it worth spending a first-round pick on? In our opinion, it doesn't make much sense.
