Bijan Robinson on Rumors: 'Something Special' To Be Drafted by Cowboys Alongside Tony Pollard

Bijan Robinson, a projected first-round pick in Thursday's NFL Draft, speaks on the opportunity to play with Tony Pollard and the Dallas Cowboys.

Following the release of longtime Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, it appeared Tony Pollard was going to be the lead back in 2023. However, with the ideas surrounding Dallas targeting a running back in the first-round of the NFL Draft, Texas product Bijan Robinson has been at the forefront of the headlines.

Robinson, last season's Doak Walker Award winner given to the nation's top running back, spoke to Yahoo Sports on the potential of playing with Dallas and Pollard.

“If they have the chance to draft me, I think it’d be something special with the running back they do have now in [Pollard],” Robinson said. “Obviously I want to go anywhere and am happy to be anywhere. … We could talk about it all we want, but we’ll just see on Thursday if it happens.”

Following a Pro Bowl campaign and a 1,007-yard season, the Cowboys inked Pollard to a $10 million franchise tag deal for 2023. But with the 25-year-old set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024 also comes with uncertainty surrounding the future of the Dallas running back room.

Robinson, the Big 12's rushing yards leader in 2022, accumulated 4,215 total yards from scrimmage as a three-year starter for the Longhorns, showcasing the ability to catch out of the backfield and break tackles.

“I’m a guy who can play receiver, play slot, play running back and have just as much of the same effect as when I am playing running back,” Robinson said. “You have a guy who can do all those type of things for their offense and your team and become a game-changer in that type of way? I think that’s when the value really comes in.”

If Robinson is available at No. 26, and that is a big if, it'll be hard to imagine the Cowboys turning down the opportunity to have a two-headed monster with him and Pollard terrorizing NFC East defenses.
