FRISCO - Stefon Diggs is a throwback in so many positive ways. The Buffalo Bills receiver is gifted and gutsy, one of the best NFL playmakers of his generation.

But he's a throwback for another reason. Like many of the stars at his position from a decade ago, Diggs is - forgive the politically incorrect phrasing, but we'll use old-school parlance here - a "drama queen.''

Stefon, the brother of Cowboys stud cornerback Trevon Diggs, is making noise on Tuesday's Bills minicamp reporting day by kinda showing up. Bills coach Sean McDermott said early Tuesday that he was "very concerned'' about Diggs' status. Later it was learned that Diggs is in Buffalo and has met with team officials ... and maybe this isn't about contract disgruntlement but rather about his "importance'' to the Bills' high-flying offense.

"I f*****g love him!'' said QB Josh Allen of Diggs, while adding. "I know internally we're working on some things.''

What could the "things'' be? Money? The "contract-related'' question? The guy just signed a four-year, $96 million extension. It's $24 million APY in new money. So that can't be the problem.

The "involvement'' thing, as Allen suggested? Diggs literally gets top-four-total targets over the course of the last three Bills seasons. He's usually about 160 targets and caught 108 balls; the only way for him to get more touches would be for him to replace Allen at quarterback.

And the trade gossip that will inevitably arise, especially because Trevon has spent the offseason playfully suggesting that his older brother join him in Dallas? Yeah, but ... A trade by the Bills would cause Buffalo to have to eat $35 million against the cap.

So the Bills can't really give him more money and they can't really give him more targets and they can't give him a trade to the Cowboys, and Stefon knows all of that. So what in the world is left that Stefon Diggs wants?

In the true tradition of the NFL "drama queen,'' what Stefon Diggs wants is "attention.''
