Cowboys Tryouts for QB Bryce Perkins, WR N'Keal Harry - 'No' on DeAndre Hopkins Signing

After trading for Brandin Cooks this offseason the Dallas Cowboys are not expected to pursue free agent wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

For those still hoping the Dallas Cowboys will complete the dream signing of DeAndre Hopkins, you can put those to rest. … and readjust your level of who is actually getting tryouts at The Star.

Speaking with CowboysSI.com and the media on Monday, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was asked about possibly adding Hopkins to the roster.

“We don’t dismiss any possibility, but it’s unlikely,” Jones said about signing Hopkins.

Unlikely is the Cowboys' way of saying "thanks, but no thanks." If the star wide-out was on the open market earlier this offseason, maybe it would've piqued the Cowboys' interest.

Yet, as COO Stephen Jones said, the Cowboys already made their move at wide receiver by trading Brandin Cooks from the Houston Texans.

We went down the road with (Brandin) Cooks," Stephen said. "Very comfortable with Cooks. We’re really pleased with our receiving group."

The Cooks trade has given Dallas a potential three-headed monster at receiver - assuming Michael Gallup can return to his former self before the ACL injury. The Cowboys return a 1,000-yard receiver in CeeDee Lamb … so what’s happening now is the “churning of the bottom of the roster.” That involved Antonio Callaway getting cut, with Dallas conducting a Monday tryout that resulted in receiver Tyron Johnson getting signed, and ...

Also in that workout, a pair of jump-out names who tried out for the club Monday. In addition to receiver Lynn Bowden, QB Jacob Eason and DBs Jordan Miller and Thakarius Keyes, visiting the star were headline-worthy guys N’Keal Harry, the former first-round Patriots receiver and Bryce Perkins, the athletic former Rams backup. And we'd say Cowboys Nation would be wise to spend more time on guys like that than on DeAndre Hopkins.
