'We Need (Bleeping) Games Like This!' WATCH Dallas Cowboys Coach Mike McCarthy Locker Room Speech: Live Game Log

The Dallas Cowboys played host to the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday Night Football hoping to extend their home winning streak. With a win, Dallas would extend their winning streak at AT&T Stadium to 14 games. That would be the longest such streak for the team since the Cowboys won 18 in a row at Texas Stadium from 1979-1981.

And that's exactly what happened in a nationally televised thriller, Dallas winning in the clutch with a 41-35 victory.

"We're a better football team today that we were in the first trimester,'' coach Mike McCarthy said to the media, references his view of a season breaking down into three segments.

And to his team in the locker room? Let's sneak inside ...

"We need (bleeping) games like this!'' McCarthy barked. "Trust me!''

Overall, Dallas is now 9-3, the second-best record in the NFL ... and this "trimester'' has been wildly successful, even with the Cowboys getting tested at AT&T Stadium for the first time all year.

Said McCarthy, anticipating tough playoff games to come: "We needed a game like that.

So how did this game go? Chronologically, something like this ...

Dallas has won three in a row and five of six since the debacle against the 49ers in Santa Clara. But with all the success this season, the Cowboys still trail the Eagles for the NFC East lead by two full games.

After a strong start to the season, Seattle has lost two consecutive games, and three of four. What was once a share of the NFC West lead, has become a two-game deficit behind San Francisco aided by a 49ers 31-13 win at Lumen Field last week.

Behind quarterback Dak Prescott, the Cowboys lead the NFL through 12 weeks scoring 31.5 points per game, and 42.3 over their last three. Dallas is posting an incredible 41.0 points per game at home, also a league-best.

Seattle sits at No. 18 scoring 20.8 points per contest, but that drops to 18.6 on the road.

The Cowboys start their toughest stretch of the schedule beginning on Thursday, with the next five opponents combining for a 37-18 record - including three first-place teams in Philadelphia, Miami and Detroit.

Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith was banged up last time out with an injured oblique, but he wasn't listed on the Seahawks' first injury report of the week on Monday. That's a good sign he'll be available for Thursday's matchup.

Running back Ken Walker III was among five players who did not practice on Monday, but coach Pete Carroll said the hope is he can play Thursday.

Live game updates will appear here after kickoff...

The Seahawks take the field in their incredibly attractive "throwback" road uniforms - including their original colors and logo from the 1970s.
