Best Coast Cowboys podcast: Zeke worries and 53-man analysis

FRISCO - In the latest episode of the “Best Coast Boys” podcast, hosts Landon McCool and Dallas Morning News contributor John Owning give their review of the Dallas Cowboys cutdown to 53 while giving a short update on Ezekiel Elliott’s trade talks.

"The “Best Coast Boys” podcast is a Cowboys-centric podcast that will delve into many other topics. Whether it is the NFL, Cowboys, movies, music, comics, food or Mixed Martial Arts, nothing is off limits on the “Best Coast Boys” podcast.

After the pleasantries, the guys dive into their analysis of the latest Ezekiel Elliott news. ... a change for the positive on Saturday and now ... at least temporarily, something else.

The guys mention whether they are worried about Zeke missing games and how it affects the roster.

Maybe the Monday locker room, by the way, gives us a clue. While Zack Martin noted needing to "pick up the slack'' of "infectiousness,'' defensive leader Tyrone Crawford had another slant.

After the Zeke Talk, the guys dive into their review of the Cowboys cuts, starting with the practice squad. John mentions how impressed he is with the practice squad while Landon discusses how everyone gets much too worried about other teams poaching Dallas’ cuts. The guys then focus their discussion on the offense. The guys mention how interesting it was that Dallas kept 11 offensive lineman while offering the reasoning for it. The guys also talk about why the team only kept five receivers instead of six.

To finish the show, the guys moved their discussions to the defense. John details why Joe Jackson made himself impossible to cut while Landon discusses why the team kept Luke Gifford on the 53. The guys both discuss their surprise that the team kept five CBs and five safeties.

The “Best Coast Boys” podcast will be back next week to discuss more Cowboys training camp and preseason news and notes. You won’t want to miss it.
