Cowboys at Giants Prediction: How Will Dallas' 'Triplets' Fare at New York?

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Some Dallas Cowboys watchers may question the quality of "The Triplets,'' Dak Prescott, Ezekiel Elliott and Amari Cooper. But I bet no New York Giants watchers do so.

We are here in New York (well, New Jersey) for the Monday Night matchup, the 4-3 Cowboys at the 2-6 Giants, the latter a team in transition from the Week 1 matchup in which Dallas pounded New York, hurrying the Giants' QB chance from Eli Manning to "Little Manning,'' rookie Daniel Jones. And yes, "Danny Dimes'' experienced a four-touchdown day in last Sunday’s road loss to Detroit. But he's still been victimized often, as in his six starts, Jones has committed a dozen turnover and has been sacked 21 times.

Daniel better than Dak Prescott? Not even New Yorkers can really believe that - not if they believe their own eyes.

TRIPLET 1: In Dak’s last two meetings against the Giants, he's 52-of-76 passing (68.4 percent) for 792 yards, with eight touchdowns and no interceptions. (It's a decent "Pay The Man'' argument.) We're not going to bother to look this up, opting instead to offer an educated guess: There simply cannot be, over a two-game period, a greater Giant Killer than Dak.

TRIPLET 2: Meanwhile, Ezekiel Elliott is now living through two straight Mondays without getting beat up, the rest, of course, of the bye week ... and is poised to beat New York in a variety of ways. The Giants are vulnerable to running backs catching passes (in their last seven games, allowing 50 yards receiving to a runner is common) and - here's the match - look at how coaches Jason Garrett and Kellen Moore have finally figured out how to fully utilize Zeke:

His targets in Weeks 1, 2 and 3? A total of five. His targets in Weeks 4, 5, 6 and 7? Almost six per outing.

TRIPLET 3: And finally there is Amari Cooper, and his Cowboys-career stat line: In 16 regular-season games, 91 catches for 1,346 yards and 11 TDs. He's done half of that damage this season, all the while having to jog through the week's practices before exploding to a Pro Bowl level on Sundays.

The Giants' secondary is especially vulnerable; in Dallas' Week 1 blowout over New York, Amari caught six for 106 yards and a TD. Heck, his sidekick Michael Gallup totaled seven catches for 158 yards! Combine that with the New York secondary's splash-play ineptitude - it leads the NFL in 20-plus pass plays allowed (36 of them!) - and there are matchups to be exploited here.

Add it all up and we think Dallas' "Triplets''' talent, health and matchup advantages lead us to a final-score prediction of ... Cowboys 30, Giants 20.
