Cowboys at Washington: Inactive - and final score - prediction for Week 2

LANDOVER, Maryland - If you've read our Dallas Cowboys coverage for the last five months, you know all about Taco Charlton's trade-block status around here. Oh, and Taco himself has known about it, too.

You should therefore not be shocked by national reports of "Taco trade possibilities.'' This all came to a head on NFL Draft Weekend. We reported it at the time, and Taco tweeted back at my stories in responses of acknowledgement.

We also broke the story eight days ago of Taco being inactive for Week 1 against the Giants ... and now we've done that again, Charlton telling us yesterday - about 26 hours before the Week 2 kickoff here in Washington - that he is inactive here, too.

I'm also told that top rookie Trysten Hill is again going to be a healthy scratch; there is plenty of time for Cowboys Nation to overreact going forward. Meanwhile, my other educated guesses as to today's Dallas inactives: Tavon Austin (concussion), offensive linemen Brandon Knight and Adam Redmond, injured linebacker Luke Gifford, still-healing rookie safety Donovan Wilson, and then Hill and Charlton.

What is the Charlton solution? He's obviously in the Dallas doghouse. As Week 3 commences, end Robert Quinn will be eligible to return to the active roster. That figures to be the Taco knockout. Trade him for a late-round pick? Yes, Dallas is working on that ... but other teams now see the writing on the wall, and might opt to simply wait until Dallas cuts Charlton. Toss him into the Miami proposal for defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick? Yes, that's a Dallas talking point. But if if happens (along with the Cowboys paying a high price in draft capital), it'll be because agent Joel Segal reps both Minkah and Taco and will be wanting to find a happy landing spot for both clients.

In the end, it appears former first-rounder Charlton will be a blip on the Dallas radar. It is hoped Hill is not the same. And neither decision impacts anything today ... as I'm picking the Cowboys to jump to 2-0 with a 27-20 win here at Washington.
