LANDOVER, Maryland - It was Dallas Cowboys COO Stephen Jones who offered the most salient point about Redskins cornerback Josh Norman's criticism of QB Dak Prescott, saying, "Not a lot of good comes from being critical of a team or anybody on that team as you’re getting ready to play them. Certainly they’re messing with one of the top competitors in this game in Dak. And I’m sure he took that to heart.''

Inevitably, of course Norman would find himself in the spotlight on Sunday. And in the first half of this game, yes, it's QB Dak Prescott doing some damage, as despite his deflection interception he's got the Cowboys up .... here at Washington.

And he did his damage against Norman.

It was Amari Cooper who said the Dallas offense is a "nightmare'' for opponents because of all the weapons. Surely Cooper wasn't also talking about deep backup wide receiver Devin Smith, the former Jets second-round bust who hung on on this roster?

But yet ... there was Devin, with 6:10 left in the first half, tying the score with a 51-yard TD catch from Dak ... and behind the overwhelmed Norman.

“You stand back there in the pocket all day and go through your first, second and third reads and come back to your first one, OK, cool,'' said Norman in review of Dak's Week 1 domination of the Giants. "Anybody can do that. You could throw the ball if that’s the case.”

Prescott has not gone un-harassed in Week 2. But he does have the 51-yard TD bomb, and he's also got a 42-yard run that set up his two-yard TD toss to Jason Witten just before the half.

The Cowboys haven't crushed the Redskins here; it's 14-7 and it's still a game. But Cooper's pregame words ring true: "I think that's like a defense's nightmare when everybody is making plays,'' he said. "How do you game plan against that? How can you make adjustments? What are you going to do?"

And what are you do when your most high-profile defender can't guard Devin Smith?
