Cowboys WR Michael Gallup To Miss 2-4 Weeks after knee surgery

FRISCO - The knee injury Michael Gallup sustained in the late-going of Sunday's Dallas Cowboys' 31-21 win at Washington will require surgery that will knock the second-year receiver out of the lineup for two to four weeks.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport is first to report that Gallup will undergo arthroscopic surgery to trim his meniscus, and that there is no structural damage besides the meniscus tear.
We're told Gallup (with 13 catches for 226 yards in two games) will likely undergo the surgery by Tuesday.
The Cowboys are also waiting for knee-related news on Antwaun Woods, "The Human Log'' defensive tackle, who may have a sprained MCL. That would put a strain on Dallas' D-line depth; Woods did not return to the game after getting hurt in the first half. Christian Covington took over nose tackle, and veteran Tyrone Crawford played inside as well. As the Cowboys prepare for this weekend's visit from the woeful Dolphins, second-round rookie Trysten Hill might find himself activated for the first time. (Meanwhile, more D-line shuffling is due as Robert Quinn is eligible to be activate and Taco Charlton remains in the doghouse).
Meanwhile, Dallas' depth will now be tested at wideout, too. Gallup, the wide receiver who has played a key role in Dallas' 2-0, will likely watch as Devin Smith - an unlikely star in Week 2 with his 51-yard TD catch - takes up his snaps.
I asked Smith after the game if as a former Jets second-round pick now starting over in Dallas if he "has something to prove.''
"With every opportunity I get, I try to take full advantage,'' Smith told me. "It's not me really trying to prove to people. I know my ability and my teammates know my ability. Any chance to get to show my skills, I'm here for it.''
