Rob Gronkowski to Cowboys' Jerry Jones: 'Please Call Me!'

As the Cowboys look for a new kicker, Rob Gronkowski made sure to throw his hat in the ring.

Following the struggles of Brett Maher in the playoff win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which saw him miss an NFL-record four extra points, the Dallas Cowboys will look elsewhere for a kicker next season.

That's no joke ... but a former NFL tight end is offering his services to the Cowboys. ... and it is sort of funny.

Rob Gronkowski, who is attempting a 25-yard field goal during the Super Bowl as part of a FanDuel promotion, had a proposition for Cowboys owner Jerry Jones.

"Jerry Jones, if I make this kick, please give me a call, I will come back and un-retire as a kicker," Gronkowski said via USA Today.

While Gronkowski, the long-time standout NFL tight end, joked about coming out of retirement to kick for Dallas, he made sure to clarify his respect for the position and what it entails.

“It’s a lot of discipline,” Gronkowski said. "I've always respected kickers and everything that they've done. The respect level has just gone to another degree on what they do. It's kind of like art. It's like a formula, it's special what they can do."

No, Maher didn't cost the Cowboys the game against the Buccaneers. However, they are opting to open up the competition for 2023 - "Back to the drawing board,'' as COO Stephen Jones put it.

And Gronkowski is ready to put on, if not an audition, than at least a show this Sunday.
