Dak Prescott Scouting WRs for Cowboys NFL Draft; Who Should Be On Target List?

In this story:
The Dallas Cowboys came into the offense with the goal of adding playmakers with "juice." ... which is what they hope they acquired in the Brandin Cooks trade from the Houston Texans. Still, the Cowboys aren't done trying to surround quarterback Dak Prescott with more weapons - and now we know they are also involving him in helping to "scout'' the prospects.''
With the NFL Draft this week, Prescott revealed he's been invited to watch the tape of a few wide receivers that Dallas is considering.
"I'm going to do a little bit like last year," Prescott said of his pre-draft study habits. "A couple of receivers, I have their tape – watch them. May give them a call. And maybe we take them, maybe we don't.''
"But,'' Prescott added in a conversation to a small group of media outlets including CowboysSI.com, "it does feel good even to have an input and to know it is listened to."
Prescott revealed his plans while speaking with us at Children's Cancer "Light It Up" Gala on Friday. Adding more playmakers will be a welcome sight for Prescott after enduring a tough 2022 season, where turnovers plagued his play, as he topped the league in interceptions.
As for who Prescott could be looking at and even reaching out to, despite him saying "receivers,'' it could be possible that the Cowboys front office also wanted his thoughts on a few tight ends. Notre Dame's Michael Mayer has been a name that is being linked with the Cowboys at No. 26 lately and even has drawn the lofty comparison to Jason Witten.
Dalton Kincaid and Darnell Washington are two other tight ends that the Cowboys could have Prescott providing feedback on after losing Dalton Schultz to the Houston Texans in the free agency.
And receivers? At the top of the draft, Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jalin Hyatt, Josh Downs, and Zay Flowers could be worthy of a look. The Cowboys brought all four of those prospects to The Star for top-30 visits, and it would only make sense to have a quarterback in the know if they plan to give him another weapon. At the same time, remember that last year, one of the guys Dak looked at and contacted before the draft was Jalen Tolbert, who was eventually taken in the third round. So the search may go beyond the obvious names ... and Dak Prescott is ready to help.
