FRISCO - No quarterback? Big problems. The NFL is a quarterback-driven league and it's no secret that the best teams tend to be led by the best quarterbacks. …

Even better for a franchise is to have long-term stability under center.

The Dallas Cowboys are tied as the NFL's ninth-best team in quarterback turnover rankings over the last decade, ranks CBS Sports.

The Cowboys have had five starting quarterbacks since the start of the 2013 season, which was tied for the fourth lowest among the NFL. To qualify for this list a quarterback had to start at least four games in a season for a team. Tony Romo, Matt Cassel, Dak Prescott, Andy Dalton and Cooper Rush are the starting five.

Dallas' current starter Prescott has played 97 games for the Cowboys. In terms of Dallas' all-time career passing yards, Prescott (24,943) ranks third behind Tony Romo (34,183and Troy Aikman (32,942.)

Prescott signed his four-year, $160 million deal in March 2021 with a contract extension likely looming.

Prescott uncharacteristically led the NFL with a career-high 15 interceptions in 2022 and is prepping for a bounce-back season with a new play-caller in coach Mike McCarthy plus a new weapon in veteran receiver Brandin Cooks.

Leading the league in quarterback stability is the Chiefs with only two starting quarterbacks in 10 seasons (Mahomes, Alex Smith.) The reigning Super Bowl Champions Chiefs are favorites to again win the Lombardi Trophy with Mahomes on a 10-year lucrative contract.

Other teams with the most stable rankings have been buoyed by longtime franchise quarterbacks, like Aaron Rodgers (Packers), Matthew Stafford (Lions), Eli Manning (Giants), Derek Carr (Raiders) and Philip Rivers (Chargers).

All in all, Dallas has got it pretty good when it comes to security and dependability at quarterback.
