Cowboys vs. Giants in 'Multiple Conversations' for 'High-Demand' TE - Report

In this story:
FRISCO - A new rumor has the Dallas Cowboys "in competition'' with the New York Giants for a "high-demand'' tight end.
But the rumor leaves us confounded.
Our friends at Heavy are reporting that Dallas has been in "multiple conversations'' with East Carolina prospect Ryan Jones - but that the Giants are also keen on the player.
Heavy calls Jones "big-bodied'' and notes that in his final season at East Carolina he caught caught 41 passes for 413 yards and four TDs.
We wonder how "big-bodied'' he can be at 6-3 and 247 pounds; that doesn't make him "big-bodied'' at all compared to the top tight ends in this NFL Draft class.
Speaking of which ... Ryan Jones does not appear to be even close to the level of the top guys, a list that includes (with guidance from an NFL scout) ...
1. Michael Mayer (Notre Dame, 6-4, 254 - Projected: Round 1
2. Dalton Kincaid (Utah, ) Projected: Round 1
3. Luke Musgrave (Oregon St., 6-5, 253) Projected: Round 2
4. Luke Schoonmaker (Michigan, 6-5, 251) Projected: Round 3
5. Sam LaPorta (Iowa, 6-3, 245) Projected Round 3
6. Tucker Kraft (South Dakota St., 6-4, 254) Projected: Round 3
7. Will Mallory (Sr., Miami, 6-4, 239) Projected: Round 6
8. Zack Kuntz (Old Dominion, 6-7, 255) Projected: Round 6
9. Cameron Latu (Sr., Alabama, 6-4, 240) Projected Round 6
10. Payne Durham (Purdue, 6-5, 253) Projected Round 6.
But "Ryan Jones''? It's hard to find him listed - not just by our scout, but by an army of media scouts - as being something worth arguing over.
We do know Dallas is in the market at this position as the Cowboys search for "our Travis Kelce.'' But we wonder if this rumor is the handiwork of an agent trying to take advantage of Dallas' known desire at the position ... and the "America's Team'' attention-getter, of course.
