Malik Hooker Trolls Cowboys Nation with Free Agent Signing 'News'

Dallas safety Malik Hooker is talking about the free agency return of fellow safety Donovan Wilson to the Cowboys. But is he teasing news or trolling fans?

FRISCO - Fans of the Dallas Cowboys want action; it's the eve of the opening of the NFL free agency window and it's a fun part of calendar. It leaves Cowboys Nation disappointed at times ...

But the enthusiasm is always there - so much so that Cowboys safety Malik Hooker is trolling a bit.

“Y’all Seen Donovan Wilson Back To Cowboys Yet?” Hooker posted on March 10 in what many fans took (wrongly) to be a tease about big news; in fact, the Cowboys' dealings with Wilson have been on the slow-moving side.

Hooker is a part of the Cowboys' three-headed monster at the safety spot along with Jayron Kearse and Wilson. But Wilson now gets his first crack at free agency and his first crack at a real payday.

As the Cowboys move money around (via Dak Prescott and guard Zack Martin restructures) to get cap-compliant, if not to open up room for the likes of Wilson, fans are impatient.

And again, Hooker is here to help ... or, to troll.

“Is It Football Season Yet?? It’s April And Some FANS Trippin Already,” Hooker wrote.

No, it’s not April. But April is the month of the NFL Draft, and yes, fans will be "trippin'' over that as well. What Cowboys Nation is "trippin'' over in this month of March is the free agency period, which opens on March 13 (with "legal tampering'') and then on March 15 (the start day for official signings) ... and the anticipation that Dallas might do something headline-worthy ...

Or anything at all.

So why is Wilson newsworthy in advance of that? Teams can negotiate with their own guys at any time, and while Dallas has termed re-signing Wilson to be a "priority,'' the lack of movement - and the possibility of Wilson being a $6 million APY guy and therefore maybe out of the Cowboys' price range - is creating some fan angst. ...

Which, as we're sure Hooker knows, is part of the fun.
