Cowboys at Camp: Zack Martin Impact on Power Rankings?

The Dallas Cowboys have taken the practice field in Oxnard with a mostly-healthy roster and a very healthy attitude after an offseason of changes ... and with just one dark cloud.

FRISCO - It's a beautiful time for the NFL. Training camps are underway as players compete for jobs and every team is undefeated.

The defense will benefit from another year of continuity with Dan Quinn as coordinator and the acquisition of cornerback Stephon Gilmore, the 2019 Defensive Player of the Year. 

A wave of optimistic change has settled in for the offense. Coach Mike McCarthy is taking over play-calling, while new Cowboy Brandin Cooks is poised for a bounce-back season and Tony Pollard (knee) is ready to take over the starting running back role. ... 

Really, only the contract holdout of Zack Martin represents a dark cloud of any sort. Having said that: Depending on how lengthy this thing is, is would greatly impact the Dallas line, the new "Texas Coast Offense'' and ultimately, maybe even the Cowboys' validity as a top-six (or so) team. But for now?

The additions of Gilmore and Cooks are part of the reason Bleacher Report ranked Dallas as No. 6 in their training camp power rankings. With two more "roster improvements," B/R believes Dallas can give the Philadelphia Eagles a run for their money this season. 

"First-round defensive tackle Mazi Smith adds size, power and athleticism to the defensive interior. Lastly, Tyron Smith can be viewed as another quality addition since he played in only four regular-season games last year."

The NFC East has not had a repeat winner since 2005. This is the longest active streak among divisions in the NFL as well as the longest in league history. The Eagles have the second-best odds to win the Super Bowl this season but will have to avoid the The "Super Bowl Hangover." Only eight teams have ever lost the Super Bowl and then made it back the following year.

The Cowboys looks to add to back-to-back 12-win seasons with the ultimate goal of hoisting the Lombardi Trophy. ... And it all starts now, with training camp.
