The Dallas Cowboys needed an answer -- and fast -- before finding themselves in too deep of a hole in the first half of Sunday's marquee matcup at Levi's Stadium against the San Francisco 49ers.

KaVontae Turpin has proven to be that spark in the return game. But on Sunday Night Football, it was the speed he brought on offense that resulted in his second-career touchdown and some sudden life for Dallas.

After failing to pick up a first down on their first three drives of the game, the Cowboys finally moved the chains with 12:20 left in the second quarter. Dallas kept moving into Niners territory before Turpin broke open in the secondary on the 11th play of the drive for a 26-yard third-down score on a nicely-placed pass from Dak Prescott.

Take a look:

Turpin scored his first touchdown of the season on a seven-yard rushing touchdown in Week 1's 40-0 blowout win over the New York Giants.

“It was kind of great,” Turpin said of his first-career score. “I got my feet wet, got in the end zone. Feel like it was a great gameplan to utilize me, I feel like I took advantage of my opportunities."

Turpin now has five catches for 51 yards and a touchdown and six carries for 66 yards and a score this season. He's also got now shortage of confidence.

“I’m a playmaker,” Turpin said. “I did what I came here to do, be a playmaker for this team, we got a lot of speed so I’m glad they gave me a chance and take advantage of my opportunity.”
