What does Cowboys QB Dak Prescott say about his 'Huddle Nuggets'?

FRISCO - We've given our view and done our research on the all-important question of Dallas Cowboys QB Dak Prescott mentioning a fast-food favorite in the in-game huddle. Now it's time for Dak's own explanation

During the Cowboys' 31-6 Week 3 win over the Miami Dolphins, NFL Films microphones caught mentioning in the huddle his elation over the return of Wendy's "spicy nuggets.''

"Oh,'' Dak says after calling a play, "Spicy Nuggets are back. I might have to stop on the way home.''

My immediate reaction? Is Dak really being that loose and funny in the huddle? Is Dak really being that hungry in the huddle? Is Dak seeking yet another endorsement deal and having the presence of mind to begin a relationship with Wendy's just this way? Had Dak already forged a relationship with Wendy's ... so this was all a meticulously manufactured setup?

And now we have the answer, from the mouth of the person who wants to eat the Spicy Nuggets.

“I guess you could say that,'' said Dak on Thursday when asked if his remark is reflective of confidence in the huddle. Or, the fact that the ads work. I think I just saw an ad and said it.''

I asked around inside the corporate side of the Cowboys. No, the team swears, Prescott did not enter Sunday with an already-formed relationship with Wendy's. Coach Jason Garrett agrees with the player himself that it's just a sign of Dak's looseness and "confidence'' in running a huddle. But in any event, yeah ... it's a "marketing thing'' now because within the last 48 hours, a Madison Ave.-type representative of Wendy's has reached out to the Cowboys, who have put the PR firm in touch with the people who handle Dak's marketing stuff.

"I don't worry about those things during the season,'' Dak tells me. "I'll talk about that with my (PR) team after the season.''

So, did Prescott swing into Wendy's following the game?

"Unfortunately,'' he says, "I didn't get the Nuggets.''
