Dolphins Granted Marketing Right to Three New Countries

Dolphins now one of two teams with marketing rights to six international territories

The Miami Dolphins are expanding the team’s international footprint.

The team announced Monday during the NFL owners meeting that the NFL has granted Miami marketing rights to three new countries — Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico — through the league's Global Markets Program.

The Dolphins are now just one of two teams that can boast they have marketing rights in at least six different countries. The other franchise is the Los Angeles Rams, and most of that West Coast franchise's territory is in Asia.

Miami originally was given marketing rights to Spain, Brazil, and the United Kingdom back in December 2021. Now, three Latin American countries can be added to that list.

Given the diverse Spanish-speaking population who live in South Florida, including from Mexico and Central and South America, the marketing arrangement between the Dolphins and these three countries makes logical sense, and should deepen Miami's roots in the Spanish speaking region.

“The Miami Dolphins are committed to becoming the NFL team of the Spanish-speaking world and growing the game of football internationally,” said Tom Garfinkel, Vice Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer of the franchise and Hard Rock Stadium. “With more than 2.7 million Miami residents of LATAM origin and more than 66 percent of Miami-Dade County being Spanish-speaking, Miami is a clear gateway city to Latin America and there is no team better positioned to grow the game in LATAM and Spain than the Dolphins.

“Through the Global Markets Program, we are excited to be able to better engage with our passionate fans in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, in addition to Spain, Brazil and the UK," Garfinkel continued. "As well as to meet and engage with new fans through game broadcasts and programming, fan engagement opportunities and local community impact efforts.”

The agreement grants the Dolphins the right to perform promotional activities and interact with fans in those countries the same way they're permitted in their own domestic market.

DOLPHINS IN SPAIN COMING IN 2025?

The NFL will play a regular season game in Madrid in 2025, with the Dolphins being a realistic option to play there.. The Chicago Bears are the other option because they hold marketing rights in Spain as well, but it's AFC teams who have a ninth home game in 2025.

Throughout the past year, the Dolphins have hosted watch parties for games, arranged fan club meetups with Dolphins alumni and supported youth football and NFL Flag camps in their current GMP markets.

Those efforts will continue, as well as expanded programming, digital native-language content and increased retail presence, making it easier for fans to have access to Dolphins merchandise in Argentina, Colombia and Mexico, which will all be announced in the coming months.
