Eagles Rival Bill Belichick 'Parting Ways' With New England Patriots

Philadelphia Eagles' old foe Bill Belichick is parting ways with the New England Patriots.

For the first time in 24 seasons, the New England Patriots will be playing an NFL season without legendary head coach Bill Belichick.

Belichick, 71, had unprecedented success with the former quarterback Tom Brady and the Patriots for more than two decades, but back in 2018 lost to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LII, 41-33, as the city would get its first championship.

Bill Belichick fondly recalled his time spent going to Army-Navy games in Philadelphia while growing up in Annapolis

New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick will reportedly leave the team after 24 seasons.

With Belichick at the helm of New England, the team enjoyed remarkable success, winning six Super Bowls, nine AFC Championship titles, and the AFC East division 17 times.

Despite going 266-121 from 2001 to 2003, Belichick's most recent season ended with the eight-time Super Bowl champion (he won two as a defensive coordinator before joining the Patriots) ultimately being unable to remain in the franchise's future plans. But that doesn't mean the all-time great coach won't look to continue coaching elsewhere, according to reports from ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Arguably the greatest coach of all time will have an opportunity to make a splash in free agency and potentially sign with numerous teams with head coach vacancies.

The future Hall of Famer could be a great solution to a lot of struggling team's problems, and considering how Philadelphia ended the season losing five out of the team's final six games, barring a strong playoff run, it wouldn't be surprising to hear boo birds calling for him to replace current head coach Nick Sirianni.

Wanting to join a contending team like the Eagles would make sense for Belichick's agenda, considering that some have speculated that he wants to break Don Shula's all-time wins record (347). Currently, Belichick sits at 333 wins.

Where Belichick ultimately lands and just how much control he's seeing after doubling as head coach and general manager in New England remains to be seen. Still, for now, Philly's former foe is back in the hunt for a new head coaching job, definitively ending one of the greatest dynasties in sports history.
