Aaron Rodgers to Reportedly Start vs. Giants in Preseason Finale

The Giants last saw Aaron Rodgers in a regular season game last season when he was part of the Packers.

This week's preseason finale between the New York Giants and New York Jets might have gotten a little more interesting if a report of Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers seeing his first game action this summer comes to fruition.

The Giants last saw Rodgers in a game in Week 5 of the 2022 regular season, a game played in London when Rodgers was a member of the Green Bay Packers. In that game, a 27-22 Giants victory, Rodgers went 25 of 39 for 222 yards and two touchdowns (96.3 rating).

He was also sacked twice and hit six times by the Giants' defense in that game.

The Giants -Jets preseason game always has a little extra intrigue, given that it doesn't count in the standings for either team. There have been some memorable moments in the series, including receiver Vitor Cruz's emergence and quarterback Eli Manning's bloodying.

This year, the Giants and Jets will see each other in the regular season on October 29. The Jets are thought to believe that the addition of Rodgers, who has not played in a preseason game since 2018, is the missing piece to a franchise that's looking to push its way into the postseason discussion this year.

But as far as this coming weekend's game goes, don't expect Giants head coach Brian Daboll to necessarily respond to the Jets' reported decision by putting his starters out there on the field. Daboll, who has made it a practice of keeping his personnel plans close to the vest, played many of his starters in last week's win over the Carolina Panthers

The Giants' second-year head coach may want to use this coming weekend's game to get one last look at those players vying for roster spots on the back end of the roster rather than to try to match wits with the Jets coaching staff and Rodgers for any sort of bragging rights, especially since, again, the Giants will see the Jets later in the season.

Rodgers is 4-2 against the Giants in regular-season games and 1-1 against them in the postseason, all of those games as a member of the Packers.
