Tommy DeVito Proved He Belongs in the NFL

The season may not have gone the way Tommy DeVito and the New York Giants would have liked, but DeVito's play this season proved he belongs in the NFL.

Few players in the National Football League had the type of season New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito had this season. DeVito went from an undrafted quarterback to starting quarterback for one of the most notable teams in the NFL in just a few months.

DeVito spoke about his unique rise.

"It was kind of crazy, but all in a good way," DeVito said. "A little bit of a rollercoaster. A lot of good, some bad. A lot to learn from, just grateful for the experience."

DeVito's stint as the starting quarterback included a three-game winning streak few undrafted quarterbacks will be able to replicate in their first season in the league.

DeVito, while disappointed in the team's season, is grateful for his successes and failures while in the starting quarterback position.

"My teammates, the journey, the good and the bad," DeVito said, regarding what he'll remember the most from the season.

"The season isn't, obviously, what we wanted, but there was a lot of good that came from it and a lot of things that are going to make this team, this organization better because of that."

The New York Giants discovered a capable quarterback in Tommy DeVito this season.

DeVito had always been a confident player but shared the fact that being successful in regular season games that mattered meant more to him than being successful in practice or meaningless preseason games.

"It's one thing to be able to think that about yourself and want to do everything during practice and the preseason as well, but to be able to go and do it in meaningful games, that means a lot more," DeVito said.

As the Giants turn the page to next season, DeVito says he's ready to play whatever role is necessary next season.

"Whatever the coaches and the organization have for me," Devito said." Whatever that is, I'm going to do that 100 percent, keep my head down, work, and be the best teammate possible."

However, like most players, DeVito hopes to see more playing time next season.

"What everybody hopes their role is: to be on the playing field, but that's the coaches' decision. I can't do anything but do my job."

DeVito did more than just his job this season, though. He proved he belongs in the NFL.
