Isaiah Hodgins Reveals He Played in Postseason with Broken Foot

In this story:
It's hard enough coming to a new team midway through the season and having to learn a playbook, get to know new teammates and coaches, and figure out the area.
But if that didn't stop New York Giants wide receiver Isaiah Hodgins from finding success in his first year with the team, then certainly a broken foot wasn't going to get in his way either.
During an interview on the 2nd Wind Podcast, Hodgins revealed that he fractured his foot before the Giants were to play the Minnesota Vikings in the Wild Card round. The injury, initially listed as an ankle issue, happened the Friday before the game was to be played, which landed him on the weekly injury report.
"I thought it was just like a high ankle sprain--the ankle was all black and blue," Hodgins said. "Dabs [head coach Brian Daboll] was all scared. Everyone was like, 'Oh, you gonna play?'
"I was nervous for myself. My dad (former NFL fullback James Hodgins) is calling me like, 'Bro, you gonna be good?'.And I'm like, 'I hope so.'"
Hodgins also revealed that he had to heavily tape his ankle for that game, which he doesn't normally do. He joked about how fat his ankle looked, but he continued to press forward, though at one point later in the game, the pain started to get a bit unbearable.
"It was like the third quarter of that game, and I was saying, 'Hey, if I have to run like an end cut, like we gotta switch sides cuz I can't plant that deep off this foot," he said. "I could do short, intermediate stuff. And I was just like dug in through like the whole time."
Not only did Hodgins make it through the game, he posted a single-game career-high 108 yards, his first 100-yard receiving game as a pro. Hodgins also contributed a touchdown catch on his nine receptions while playing in 92 percent of the offensive snaps.
Oh, and the Giants won that game, 31-24, their first postseason win since 2011.
More importantly for Hodgins, whom the Giants re-signed this off-season, he learned something about himself that afternoon.
"Me and Saquon (Barkley) say it all the time: You're in the deep end, so what are you gonna do? You going to sink or swim?
"I had had no other option at that point. And you know, that's when I saw a different side of myself like, you know, pop open and I was just like so locked in. I was just in a different mode that game."
Something tells us the Giants will take that type of heroic performance all day, every day, not just from Hodgins but from all their players.
