IO, the Giants aren't changing their core philosophies this year--it's too late in the game to do that. That said, I'm sure they'll tweak certain plays based on what DeVito likes and does well and what he doesn't. The time to tweak the offense is in the off-season, though.

Great question, Brad. I think the coaches will look at everyone's body of work when making decisions moving forward. I'm sure contracts will also factor into the equation. That said, this roster is probably in for a massive overhaul this off-season.

Dan, I think he has to keep on competing and showing growth. I still believe his best chance is to be a QB2 next year, depending on what happens with Daniel Jones. But that's a long way off.

I'm looking for DeVito to be able to handle the trickery Bill Belichick likes to throw at young quarterbacks. That will be a key piece of info as Brian Daboll knows, from having worked on Belichick's staff, how he likes to toy with young quarterbacks. I don't think DeVito's potential future hinges necessarily on stats, by the way.

Brad, my guess is Kafka goes to Northwestern or takes a college job. I think T-Mac could be in jeopardy, as could Bobby Johnson. Then there are always those moves that you don't see going, like if an assistant leaves for another job elsewhere. But those are the three I'd be eyeing.

(From Dave S.) RE: Tommy De Vito: Do you think the coaches said, "Take a sack, don't try to throw it away and risk a fumble?" Also, is Daboll close to Belichick in giving the press as little as possible?

Dave, I think that's a strong possibility. That would certainly make sense. As for Daboll and the info he gives, I've never covered Belichick, but I think Daboll might be a tad better at giving out some crumbs.

Ed, I tend to take it one game at a time, as you don't know what the injury situation will look like from week to week. Off the top of my head, I'd say the Rams game could be one the Giants can grab, but I'm not putting any money down on any of this.

(From Pat L.) Do you think Daniel Jones should be the long-term QB given how the 2nd and 3rd string seem to run the offense better (more directly, should the Giants be thinking about drafting another QB), and what do you think their biggest need is for the upcoming draft?

Pat, I think you HAVE to address the quarterback regardless. Tyrod Taylor will be a UFA. DeVito, at best, could be your QB2. And there is no guarantee that Jones will be ready to start the season. So yes, I think quarterback will be addressed. Outside of quarterback, I'd like to see them address the offensive line, WR1, and edge--basically, all the areas I've been screaming about since the spring in which they're lacking.

Hi Josh. Yes, to your first question. As for question 2, quarterback, OL, and edge are my top choices.

(Tank S.) Every year, there’s a certain amount of blue-chip prospects in a draft. How many of those players exist in this draft? I’m thinking 6-7. So if the Giants did trade back, what would be the cutoff of still getting a blue chip prospect and picks?

Tank, I appreciate the question, but I've said this before and will say it again. It's TOO EARLY to be asking these questions.

We don't know which underclassmen are declaring. We don't have the final draft order. And who's to say that a prospective blue-chip prospect doesn't see his stock fall during the all-star games?

So let's wait and let the dust settle before we start playing "what if" guessing games. It will happen soon enough--just not this week.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd definitely put in a waiver wire claim for him.

Leandor, as I said above, IT'S TOO EARLY to speculate on what the next move is at quarterback. Right now, there are too many unknowns to play a guessing game, including where the Giants end up drafting to predict whether they will trade up. Let's let the dust settle, and we can revisit all this in a few weeks.

The last receivers that didn't work out for the Giants who had an injury history? Golden Tate comes to mind. John Ross is another. There is probably a slew of them that came in and had an injury history that didn't work out for this team.

Well, I don't like pumpkin, so apple it is!
