We have a small mailbag this week, so let's dive into what's on people's minds.

What's up, Jonathan? Of the two, I feel more confident in John Michael Schmitz returning to action than Andrew Thomas. My guess is that Thomas is probably another week away from getting back on the field.

Ed, I haven't done my "why they'll win/lose/prediction" article yet--should have that written and posted by tomorrow at the latest--but I think this will be a close game that ends in the Giants' favor. I think the key to the game will be Saquon Barkley, but again, I have to dive into the analysis before giving you an educated opinion.

Jeff, I don't look at the draft until after the season ends, as I have my hands full covering this team day in and day out. That said, Brandon Olsen has a super early Giants-only mock draft dropping later today in which he suggests a potential quarterback for the Giants. Check it out--I believe the article drops around 1PM ET.

Groove, if Jones has to miss another game, yes, I believe the Giants will have to add another quarterback to the roster. This weekend figures to be DeVito's third and final elevation from the practice squad and while they could gamble by exposing him to waivers, if Jones is going to be a while, it might behoove them to put him on IR, as he'd miss the next four games plus get the bye week to get his neck right. The only way I don't see that happening though is if the Giants end up creating another roster spot via a transaction from elsewhere.

Sure, it's possible. As I've repeatedly said, you don't screw around with neck injuries. If he comes back too soon, all it takes is one wrong hit, and he could have even bigger problems down the line. Look, I wish him well, and I hope he and the team doctors continue to be smart about this. He's only 26 years old and has his whole life before him. Whatever decision they make, I hope they consider that.

(From John Abbott): Could the Giants have used leaned Williams and dexter Lawrence on those two 1-yard goalline runs?

I suppose so, John, but that said, Leo and Dexter play a lot of snaps as is. Do you really want to see them taking on additional snaps where a scrum piles up and puts them at risk?

(From Mark L.): I've been a Giant fan since YA on his knees with blood dripping down his head. It's been difficult being a Giant fan in Eagle Land. How did we wind up with this schedule, back-to-back on the West Coast, so many 8:20 games, and not playing the hated Eagles till the last couple of games?

Mark, you win some, and you lose some. If I remember correctly, the Giants had a pretty nice schedule last year, and no one complained. Given the success they had, that made them more desirable for the prime-time games. And I guess they figured the Giants would be competitive enough to where it made for good drama to have them play the Eagles at the end of the year with the division title on the line.

Zero, anything is possible right now. As I've said repeatedly, you don't screw with neck injuries. I know Daniel wants to be out there with his teammates, but he has to be smart about this, as one wrong hit and he could have far worse issues than he has now.
