New York Giants running back Saquon Barkley has been consistent in his desire to be a Giant for life.

But as he again faces an uncertain future as a pending free agent, thoughts of Barkley having potentially played his last game for the only professional team he's been a part of since 2018 have crossed his mind.

Sort of.

"I really don't think like that," he said during a video interview with USA Today Sports as part of a promotion for Silk Almond Milk. " I try my best to stay in the moment. But if this is the end, I'm so thankful for all the Giants fans, the Mara and Tisch families."

Barkley continued. "I really don't wanna get too much into it 'cause I don't wanna feel like I'm saying goodbye. To be honest, a lot of subjects is outta my control."

Barkley was also asked what legacy he'd like to leave behind with the franchise if he has indeed played his final game.

"The legacy that I wanna leave, which I'm going to leave, is just I want to be a great football player who did things the right way and made an impact on his community," he said. "It's just really that simple."

Barkley is nowhere near ready to call it a career despite having accumulated multiple lower-body injuries that have slowly taken a toll on his running style.

"I feel like I got a lot left in the tank. I feel like everything I want to accomplish with my career is still out there," he said. "And I wanna compete. I wanna win a Super Bowl ball. I want some championships. So those are definitely goals of mine in the later parts of my career."
