2023 NFL Draft: Jaguars Among Teams Dalton Kincaid 'Has Visited or Spent Significant Time With'

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Jaguars are one team who has shown pre-draft interest in Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have tight end Evan Engram locked in for the 2023 season thanks to the franchise tag, but that hasn't stopped them from doing their homework on top prospects at the position.

Among those is Utah tight end Dalton Kincaid, who ESPN's Adam Schefter said on Wednesday has either visited or spent significant time with a number of teams, including the Jaguars.

Kincaid has one of the most interesting stories in this year's draft cycle. A former high school basketball player, Kincaid started playing football in his senior year of high school and was ranked a no-star recruit.

Kincaid eventually enrolled with San Diego, where he caught 19 touchdowns in two seasons and led all FCS tight ends in yards per catch in 2019.

After 24 games with San Diego, Kincaid transferred to Utah. He appeared in five games in 2020, catching one pass for 14 yards before returning as a starter in 2021. In 13 starts, he caught 36 passes for 510 yards and eight touchdowns, earning Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 honors.

Kincaid came back to Utah for his final season in 2022, appearing in 12 games and starting nine. He finished with 70 catches for 890 yards and eight touchdowns, earning Third-Team All-American and First-Team All-Pac-12 honors.

While Kincaid's skill set and deployment at the next level are strikingly similar to Engram's, there is no denying the Jaguars' need for depth at the position. The Jaguars only have three tight ends currently on the roster in Engram, third-year tight end Luke Farrell, and second-year tight end Gerrit Prince.
