Looking to bounce back from ACL surgery, Breece Hall could break out.

SI Fantasy analyst Michael Fabiano can see it happening. The fantasy football guru spotlighted Hall in the running backs edition of his positional "breakout" series.

Bijan Robinson (Falcons), Alexander Mattison (Vikings), Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions), Cam Akers (Rams) and J.K. Dobbins (Ravens) joined the Jets' second-year starter on the "2023 Fantasy Football: Top 6 Breakout Running Backs" list.

From a fantasy perspective, Hall showed RB1 potential and production in the 6.5 games prior to his injury last year. Currently the No. 10 overall running back in Fabiano's latest position rankings, the Iowa State product possesses big-play ability along with above-average value as a pass-catcher out of the backfield.

Under a standard PPR scoring format, Hall grossed 117.1 fantasy points over a seven-week span in 2022.

The No. 36 overall draft pick totaled 681 scrimmage yards on 99 touches as a rookie. Hall received 31 targets in the passing game with eight of his 19 receptions resulting in first downs.

From "2023 Fantasy Football: Breece Hall Among Running Backs Ready for a Breakout Season":

Breece Hall, Jets

Hall is on this list with a caveat, as he’s coming off knee surgery and could be slow to start the season. He was tremendous as a rookie, averaging 16.4 points a game while scoring 15-plus points in four of his final five games (he was injured in that final contest). Assuming Hall has no setbacks in his return, I can see the talented runner finishing as a low RB1 or high-end RB2 this season.

Good news related to Hall's return emerged during OTAs. The running back wasn't fully practicing, but he was present on field working out off to the side.

"He looks strong. He looks powerful," said Jets' head coach Robert Saleh heading into the home stretch of the offseason program.

Hall may be limited in training camp as a precaution, but he is seemingly progressing quickly in his recovery and could be ready to go for the Monday Night Football opener against the Buffalo Bills on September 11.

"I'm very optimistic on that one [Hall returning for the opener]. I don't want to jinx it," said Saleh. "The kid's already hitting over 22 [mph] on the GPS, so he looks freaking good."

There are a few options to consider hand-cuffing with Hall if you're targeting him for your roster. Backup Michael Carter is RB47 in the latest SI rankings while second-year pro Bam Knight holds the RB67 slot. Jets' 2023 fifth-round draft pick Izzy Abanikanda (RB76) was tabbed as a "deep sleeper" in a recent article by Fabiano.
