The crowd was there to see radio personalities Boomer Esiason and Gregg Gionnatti, but New York Jets' general manager Joe Douglas received the loudest cheers.

Appearing as a special guest at the WFAN "Boomer and Gio Live" event, Douglas answered a question to the delight of Jets' fans.

Esiason, a former Jets quarterback turned media maven, audibly asked the Jets' GM if quarterback Aaron Rodgers was coming to New York.

"He's gonna be here," said Douglas as fans erupted with excitement.

The Jets-Packers trade talks have inspired wide-ranging speculation throughout the media in recent days.

In addition to rumors about the level of draft capital compensation that is being discussed, the idea of the San Francisco 49ers entering the Rodgers conversation has emerged.

Douglas, however, didn't sound concerned about the ongoing trade negotiations while on stage at WFAN's Boomer and Gio Live.

Recently reporting on air, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler said, "A lot of this deal, I'm told, remains pretty much done.”

Longtime NFL insider Peter King predicted that the Jets' trade for Rodgers would come to fruition during the 2023 Draft.

“I think the over/under date for the Aaron Rodgers trade is early evening April 28. That’s when the second round of the NFL Draft begins. That’s when the first of likely two or three draft choices to be exchanged would happen,” said King in his “Football Morning In America” column on April 3.

The media buzz surrounding the Jets and Rodgers has been heightened ever since the four-time NFL MVP expressed his intention to play in New York during a March 15 appearance on the Pat McAfee Show.

Gang Green suffered from inadequate quarterback play in 2022 and many view the 39-year old Rodgers as an instant upgrade.

Logging a 64.6 completion percentage, Rodgers threw 542 passes for 3,695 yards and 26 touchdowns to 12 interceptions with the Packers last year.

Meanwhile, four different Jets quarterbacks combined for 14 touchdown passes, 14 interceptions and a 56.98 completion percentage over that same time span.

Gang Green ranked 27th out of 32 NFL teams in yards per pass attempt (6.45) last year. Rodgers owns a 7.7 yards per pass career average.
