New Detroit Lions running back David Montgomery is a player that fits the mold of what the front office is looking for in a player joining the organization.

After signing with Detroit, Lions head coach Dan Campbell indicated that Montgomery constantly jumped out on film when he was preparing his team to play the Chicago Bears.

His ability to shed tackles and force opponents to work extra hard to bring him down caught the attention of Detroit's coaching staff, front office and roster.

Now in Motown, Montgomery's new teammates are excited to see his work ethic and abilities out on the field for his new team.

"Obviously, I know of him from his time in Chicago. I mean, the guy is a playmaker," left tackle Taylor Decker said. "Durable, a lot of carries, strong. I've seen our guys try to tackle him, and it's gonna be fun to see that kind of 1-2 punch. I've seen it from the opposite perspective of what he can do, and it's going to be fun for us as a line to be able to try and get that guy to the second level."

With Montgomery and D'Andre Swift, the offense is hoping the running game can elevate itself to the next level.

"I haven't even met yet, but I've heard that he's kind of the guy that, he's got like a productive paranoia about him," Decker explained. "That's kind of what I've heard. He's always trying to be responsible with discipline, professional, always trying to find a way to get better. That's what I've heard from a coach that I know that was in Chicago. Does it surprise me that we signed a guy like that? No. It sounds like personality-wise and mindset, he is the cookie cutter for what we want here."

Wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown has already needled his brother Equanimeous about the Lions signing his former teammate away from the Bears.

"I already had talked to David before, and my brother told me he'd be doing crazy stuff in practice," said St. Brown. "The jukes he does -- like dudes can't tackle him. So, I already knew he was that guy. And then we played him, watched his tape, because we watch different teams play each other. So, you see David out there. But, you know, he's a baller. I'm excited to see see what he does."
