Lions Listed as Potential Landing Spot for Broncos WR Courtland Sutton

Could the Lions replace DJ Chark with wideout Courtland Sutton?

Denver Broncos wide receiver Courtland Sutton could be on his way out of town.

The Broncos current asking price has precluded teams from making a deal to acquire the 6-foot-4, 216-pound wideout.

PFF recently complied a list of teams who could benefit from Sutton joining their roster, including the Patriots, Panthers, Ravens and Lions.

"Rumors have been swirling all offseason that basically the entire Denver receiving corps is on the trading block for the right offer as Sean Payton looks to change tack and craft an offense that Russell Wilson can succeed within. Sutton has looked like the most obvious odd man out from the beginning," writes Sam Monson. "Last season, he averaged just 1.55 yards per route run and registered six drops. At 6-foot-4 and over 210 pounds, Sutton has the skill set to be a true X-receiver, something that this free agency class and draft are light on. There are teams that have yet to find that player, or actively lost one, that could be interested."

In 2021, Sutton signed a four-year, $60,800,000 contract that included $34,900,000 in guaranteed monies and an average annual salary of $15,200,000.

If the costs remain prohibitive, Detroit's front office and coaching staff could also look to the draft to replace an emerging player on their offense who decided to sign elsewhere in free agency.

After one season in Detroit, DJ Chark decided to sign a one-year contract with the Carolina Panthers worth $5 million.

Chark posted on social media, "The past year has been incredible for me. Signing with Detroit and meeting the great people of that organization is huge for me. Playing with my brothers and going from 1-6 to 9-8 was amazing. I believe transparency and honesty is everything. With that being said this chance in Carolina is second to none! Can’t wait to see what this journey holds for me!"

The ex-Lion secured 502 yards and two touchdowns during his only campaign in Motown.
