The Detroit Lions will reportedly conduct joint practices during the preseason with the New York Giants.

Last year, Detroit traveled to Indianapolis to hold practices with the Colts prior to its preseason contest.

Ahead of the team's matchup in 2022, Lions head coach Dan Campbell and Giants head man Brian Daboll exchanged stories about their time in the National Football League.

Campbell interviewed for a position approximately 10 years ago with Daboll, and certainly left a memorable first impression.

"Daboll, he tells that story to everybody,” Campbell said. “He tells it to me every time I see him. We talk, he brings it up again. I don’t remember throwing chairs through the walls or anything. That didn’t happen. But, I did demo on chairs. But, yeah, he definitely exaggerated it. But, I was sweating and I was out of breath, and I did use a chair.”

Detroit's coaching staff feels that conducting joint practices allows a team to gauge where it is at during training camp.

"It gives you a confidence,” Campbell said, when reviewing practices against the Colts. “You can feel it in our players. Our players have a confidence. They feel like they’re getting better, and to know that, they feel like they stack up against these guys (Colts players). That we’re not out of place. And, that we are getting better. And, that we can do some things in all three phases. It gives our team confidence.”

The Lions last held joint practices with the Giants, back in 2018.
