The Detroit Lions are entering the game against the Seattle Seahawks a little banged up.

Prior the game, Taylor Decker, Josh Paschal, Emmanuel Moseley and Khalil Dorsey were ruled inactive.

Both defensive linemen Isaiah Buggs and Brodric Martin were ruled out inactive Sunday morning, 90 minutes prior to the game.

Detroit's offense, without their veteran right tackle, could be counting on young players to keep the chains moving.

Offensive coordinator Ben Johnson indicated tight end Sam LaPorta showcased the moment was not too big in his NFL debut.

Even thought he is a reliable pass-catcher, LaPorta also showcased his blocking prowess in the opener.

“It was really good Week 1. I thought he did some really nice things to the touchdown run that (Lions RB) David (Montgomery) had," Johnson said. "He had a key block as he was pulling on around the corner and we challenge those tight ends --  just their style of defense last week, they played a lot of what we call six-technique. So, they had the defensive end line up over those guys, head up or even slightly inside, and we said for our run game to go, those guys were going to have to make some big blocks for us, and they came through.

"They came through for us. Both him and Brock (Wright). And so, I think (Tight Ends) Coach (Steve) Heiden has done a phenomenal job getting those guys ready, particularly a young player like LaPorta," Johnson explained further. "He is very smart, he is dialed in with the different looks, and so we’re confident both run game and pass game with him right now.”
