Panthers Sign Veteran Safety, Release Eric Rowe

In this story:
Panthers GM Scott Fitterer made some moves on Tuesday, placing linebacker Shaq Thompson on injured reserve in addition to making a practice squad change in the secondary.
The Panthers released veteran safety Eric Rowe and signed Matthias Farley in his place. Farley is in his eighth year in the NFL and spent one season with head coach Frank Reich in Indianapolis in 2018.
Early on in his career, Farley played a chunk of snaps on defense at safety, but after leaving the Colts, he has primarily been used as a special teamer. Farley was with the Jets from 2019-20, the Titans in 2021, and the Raiders in 2022. For his career, he has recorded 185 tackles, 14 pass breakups, four tackles for loss, and three interceptions.
The Panthers still have two open spots on the 53-man roster.
