Josh McCown's Moment with C.J. Stroud Goes Viral

Is Stroud the guy for Carolina?

The first of four very important Pro Days took place yesterday as the Carolina Panthers sent a large contingent to Columbus to watch Ohio State QB C.J. Stroud throw live.

The former Buckeye put on a show in front of the Panthers, who were represented by owners David & Nicole Tepper, head coach Frank Reich, offensive coordinator Thomas Brown, senior assistant Jim Caldwell, and several others.

The one Panthers staff member that received the most attention, unintentionally, was quarterbacks coach Josh McCown. After Stroud completed his workout, McCown went over along with a Reich, Tepper, and a few others to show love to Stroud and talk to him for a few seconds. During that brief conversation, McCown told Stroud that they will find a court to play a game of horse when he's in Charlotte.

Some took this as the Panthers would be taking him in the draft, but McCown was simply referring to when Stroud is in town for his visit ahead of the draft.

McCown has liked Stroud's game for a long time and during a near 40-minute episode on "Scheme", a show on Underdog Fantasy with Josh Norris, he compared him to one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL. The episode was taped prior to McCown getting the job in Carolina.

"We love to do comps especially when we project them in the draft and especially the draft gurus. And we want to go who does he project? When I'm communicating with somebody, who can I tell you that he is like? So it'll quickly get you in that mindset of where I think he is as a player. So physically, without doing the deep dive of you know who he is as a person and talking to his coaches and getting to know really CJ Stroud the whole way around. Physically, as I watch him, I think his skill set is very similar to Joe burrow. Okay, I think that would be the guy in the NFL and you know fellow, one-time Buckeye that I would look at and go okay, he moves. He's about the same size, same frame, same kind of arm talent, and moves the same way physically."
