Panthers, Two Others to Conduct a Second Head Coaching Interview with Ejiro Evero

The next step in the coaching search begins.

Carolina Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero is receiving serious consideration by multiple teams this cycle to become a head coach.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Evero plans to go through a second round of interviews with the Panthers, Atlanta Falcons, and Seattle Seahawks.

Atlanta seems to be swinging for the fences for either Bill Belichick or Jim Harbaugh, but are also considering first-time head coaching options such as Evero and Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson.

In Seattle, the list isn't as top-heavy with big name targets. Pelissero reports they will conduct a second round of interviews with Raiders defensive coordinator Patrick Graham, Giants offensive coordinator Mike Kafka, Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris, and Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.

Despite being on a staff that fired its coach mid-season in each of the past two years, Evero's units have performed at an extremely high level. In 2022, the Denver Broncos finished 8th in total defense while this past season in Carolina the Panthers finished fourth.
