Possible Trade Partners if the Panthers Look to Move Matt Corral

Looking at where Corral fits best.

The Carolina Panthers are not actively shopping quarterback Matt Corral. But at some point, that could change. Following the signing of veteran free agent Andy Dalton and acquiring the No. 1. pick, which will be spent on a quarterback, there's not much of a future for the former third-rounder in Carolina.

If the Panthers do end up looking to trade Corral, what teams make the most sense?

Seattle Seahawks

If we're looking for a situation for Corral to start in the future, this could be it. Geno Smith had a great season in 2022, but is it an anomaly? If not, there's still a path for Corral to potentially start somewhere down the line in Seattle. Geno is the only QB on the roster and it's unlikely that they spend a day one or two pick on a quarterback. Plus, the Scott Fitterer-John Schneider relationship makes Seattle a possibility.

Los Angeles Rams

Rumors floated around the league that the Rams were potentially interested in trading Matthew Stafford. They could be on the brink of a full-blown rebuild and if that's the case, Corral could certainly be in the mix to get a chance to start. Would he be their long-term option? Probably not, but he could be that placeholder that gets his opportunity to earn it.

Detroit Lions

Everyone continues to believe the Lions will move off of Goff in the next couple of years. But as long as they continue to win, he'll remain the starter. This is a good opportunity for Corral to still sit and learn but be a backup option. Currently, the Lions have a pretty bare quarterback room as Goff is the only one on the roster.

Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders signed Jimmy Garoppolo last week, but behind him, all they have is Chase Garbers, who has yet to appear in an NFL game. I don't know if the Raiders would be interested in trading for a young quarterback coming off a significant injury when they already have an injury-prone starter, but the Raiders need a young quarterback waiting in the wings. Garbers isn't that guy.
