Quick Hits: Early Thoughts on QBs, What's Next for Terrace, Chinn's Fit & More

Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich met with the media following Monday's practice.

What he is looking for right now

"From an offensive standpoint, we're looking for execution. Decision-making, timing, and accuracy. The rhythm of the passing game. We talk about route disciplines - that's being at the right spot at the right time. Everything has got to be precise and really at this time, we want to fine-tune that. I thought we did a good job there. On defense, because we're not taking guys to the ground, it's a little bit different on defense. We're looking for coverage disciplines. Be at the right spot at the right time. That's the same thing because we can't see the same finish on defense that we get to see on offense. I thought the guys did a good job there as well."

The decision to roll with three QBs

"The decision there was to get more reps for Matt, get a good look at Matt. Scott [Fitterer] and I have talked about this, we may bring a fourth in for training camp, we'll make that decision as we get closer. But right now it's a chance for Matt to get more reps."

What he's seen from Matt Corral so far

"Good decisions. Looks comfortable. Feels comfortable. I've told Scott from day one, I think Matt's been good in the quarterback meetings. He's got a good arm, he's a good athlete. This will be a good opportunity for him to get some more reps. Even if we bring a fourth guy in, it will be likely that Matt's going to get a lot of preseason play time."

Bryce Young leading/playing with veterans

"It was 10/10. I mean, just complete command, control, poise. You could tell the way he was working through progressions. Accuracy in the throw. Ball placement in the throw. It was all very good."

What's next for Terrace Marshall Jr.

"I think it's just a matter of him getting more play time and making those plays consistently. I think we saw that last year with the reps he got, the catches that he had, the big plays that he had. He shows that capacity to kind of be a big-play guy."

What he's seen from Jeremy Chinn

"Really just embracing his role. It's going to be different for him. And talking to EJ [Ejiro Evero] the other day about some other possibilities and I know it's offseason and we've only done phase one, phase two, and this is just the start. But we're really excited about how he's going to fit into our scheme. After talking to EJ, there's probably even more roles for him than what we thought."

CJ Henderson and Hayden Hurst absent from practice

"CJ had a personal matter to attend to. And Hayden did have a sports hernia procedure that he's recovering from. Prognosis is good and he's on track. I don't know the exact timeline. It wasn't recent that he had it, so I think we're good on the timeline. He's making progress every week. I don't have a date off the top of my head of expected to be back full speed."
