Reich Gives Interesting Evaluation on Anthony Richardson

Could the former Gator be in play for Carolina at No. 1?

Many around the league believe the Panthers' decision at No. 1 in next month's draft will ultimately come down to C.J. Stroud or Bryce Young. But as former Panther linebacker, Thomas Davis mentioned last week, there are some within the organization who are "enamored" by Florida's Anthony Richardson.

Could one of those people be head coach Frank Reich? Possibly. During a session with the media at the league meetings in Arizona, Reich was asked about his thoughts on Richardson given the high upside but inconsistencies that come along with his game.

"He's an exciting player. Even before the combine watching his tape, there are plays and throws all over the tape that scream top pick. That's a credit to him. I think he has upper-body mechanics that are really solid. Obviously, his completion percentage is lower than you want at this level, but I don't get too discouraged at things like that."

He's not wrong, either. It's hard to not get excited about Richardson and his potential when you see the huge arm that he puts on display or the running ability that he brings to the table. Couple that with the fact that Carolina has built an extremely experienced coaching staff to aid that transition for a rookie quarterback and it could be the perfect situation for Richardson to become an elite player in the NFL.
